Update from our Commodore

In a normal year, we would be undergoing final preparations to open the CYC Manhattan Harbour Pool this weekend.  Unfortunately this year is shaping up to be anything but a typical year.  As such, the opening of the pool will be delayed indefinitely.  We are cautiously optimistic that we will get to open by July 4th, but our fate rests with decisions that are outside of our control.  As you likely already know, this is a constantly evolving situation, so we ask for your continued patience as we await information from the Governor and the Department of Health.

We wanted to make sure you had some background information to help you understand the dynamics at play right now.  Specifically,  as it relates to opening the pool.  We must obtain an operating permit from the Northern Kentucky Health Department.  The Health Department is currently operating under an Executive Order issued by Governor Andy Beshear which prohibits the opening of public and community pools.  Even though the CYC Pool is a private membership pool, for the purposes of the Health Department, the CYC Pool is considered a public pool.  You may have heard that the Governor has released some pools to open effective June 1st, which is correct, but the pools that have been authorized to open are lap pools used specifically for exercise or competitive swimming.  Pools like the CYC Pool are not included in that order.

With this said, we are going to start preparing the pool in the coming weeks to ensure that we can open our Pool within days after the Executive Order is lifted by the Governor.  We have decided that the maximum amount any member will pay for a 2020 membership to the CYC Pool will be $150 (instead of the escalating membership dues that we typically charge).

The CYC Bridge would like to thank everyone for their patience during these trying times.  We will also appreciate that once we do open the pool that each of you respect others and follow any social distancing rules that still may be in play once we are allowed to open the pool.Thank you for your understanding.
